Working for a sustainable and progressive Education and Culture
The University of Murcia, through its International University of the Sea, the “Los Álamos” Foundation of Cieza and the City Hall of this village, have celebrated from the 15th to the 19th of september 2008, a Course under the title “Floridablanca. Reforms and Enlightment in the XVIII Century in Spain” to celebrate in this way, the IInd. Centenary of the death of this important politician from Murcia, during the time of the Enlightment.
The Course was directed by Ambassador, José Luis Pardos and the University of Murcia Professor, Juan Hernández Franco. The inaugural Lecture was given, at the Count of Floridablanca’s Palace-Home in Murcia, by the Director of the Royal Academy of History, Mr. Gonzalo Ánes, under the chairmanship of the Rector of the UMU, with the presence of the City Mayor of Cieza and a special participation of Amabssador María Jesús Figa, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, who emphazied and underlined the great task of the count of Floridablanca as spanish Ambassador who also organized the spanish Diplomatic Carreer.
The most important issues on this Course were, “Reformed and enlightened thinking during the XVIII Century, Internal and Foriegn policies, as well as Economy and Trade, the Arts in Floridablanca’s Spain, Church and clergy, as well as, What was left of Floridablanca in present time”.
The up dating of Floridablanca as a great Statesman, during the time of the Enlightment, has accomplished a great task all along the Course and has kept the interest of students and the media. The key-note speech for the closing was given by The Academician of the Royal Academy of History, Mr. Luis Miguel Enciso who spoke about “Floridablanca and the Enlightment”.
This Course from its very beginning has attracted a lot of academic and media interest.
Monday the 15th to friday the 19th of september, in cooperation with the UMU and the Muncipality of Cieza, will take place the most important Course, organized at the Region of Murcia, on ocassion of the Bicentenary of the death of the enlightend murciano, José Moñino y Redondo, Count of Floridablanca.Here you may see the general program*.This brouchure,you may transfer by your bank the amount of 95€ to be inscribed at the teachings, which will be inaugurated by the Director of the Royal Academy of History and close also by the royal Academician, Prof. Luis Miguel Enciso. Last wenesday the 11th of june, the Jury for the "Communications and humanities" 2008 Award of the Prince of Asturias Foundation, has given its Prize to Google, under a proposal of our President, Ambassador JL Pardos. This Prize has atracted a very special attention by the Media world. This means too, the reconnaissance to the Prínce of Asturias Foundation, which has entered in a modern era, being at the top of the digitial surfing.The Award also belives in the human-&-values and the digital ones which are already being developed in the Net, and naturally from now on, with more implication on the world of Google, in this planet, the universe and the space.

The "father of the Internet" who invented with Bob Kahn, in 1973 the IP/TCP protocols, and one of the wisest and knowledgable connaiseurs of the past, present and future of this digital Network, has been honnored with a Doctorate HC. the past 17th of april, in Cartagena.
During all the following Friday the 18th Dr. Cerf and his wife Sigrid, paid a detalied visit to "Los Álamos" Foundaation, in which, besides the hospitality given by Mercedes & JL Pardos, they had the occasion to be interviwed by a nation wide journalist, participate in the Board of Directors meeting - developping and enlarging their vision of the project <orsa1000> and the <Free international University for Murcia>, as well as having the institutional picture and signing in their guest book, mantaining several intervies with RTVE and meeting shortl, with the artist Pepe Lucas, whose works they want to promote from their residence in Virginia, USA
.There has been plenty of unfogetable moments while they where at "Los Álamos" that will be re-enacted and enlarged, on his mext visit to the Foundation next Tuesday the 27th and also to the UMU and its ATICA, on the 28th.

The great teacher, thinker and Prof, Mario BUNGE, from McGill University in Montreal (Québec), has visited "Los Álamos" Foundation, from the 2nd to the 5th last april, with a great success in each and everyone of the many activities he has performed. Prof. BUNGE, visited various centers an dialogued in Cieza, with professors, philosophers, and citizens, as well as pronnounced an important Lecture at the UMU, on the 4th where he was hommaged on the 20th anniversary of his last visit to Murcia.
The national Spanish television broadcast on its program "Spain in community" and on the channels 2 and Television International, a report on the Course of painting and poetry held at our headquarters this past summer.

In the middle of the fields of the "huertas", presided by the splendor of the Atalaya (a rock of over 2100 feet), the XIth Century arabic Castle and among the fruit trees, 15 painters, 3 poets and the Master José Lucas, has taken place the IInd Course which has been a total sucess. We had, as invited guest for the closing, the important busniessman murciano, great Art collector, Tomás Fuertes. And last Saturday the 22nd we held the Ist General Assembly with a great and qualified assistance, and we have renovated the present Steering Committee and produced three Fora or Special mailing-lists concerning the following items: 1st Migrations and school teaching, directed by Bartolomé Martínez Salmerón, 2nd Disabilites and shcool training, directed by Manuel Gómez Villas, and 3rd The use of the Regional Web for Education, from the autonomous community of the Region of Murcia, directed José Ramón Guardiola.

The course on "Design and poetry" is targeting the essential in painting, and it is the scafolding to support it. Painting without design, which is the first creative attitude, before coulour it self, make it very difficult to give to painting its requiered accent and voice. Poetry as the nearest artisitic expresion to painting, is a complement andan inspiration, which is need it by the painter, to express what he desires. Three young and important poets of a bright barckground, Antonio Parra, Antonio Lucas and Lorenzo Oliván, will declaim their poems. For the closing is being planned a concert by the well known string quartet Saravasti.
Following a long work between the High School Jaime Balmes from Cieza (Murcia) Spain and the School Lincoln of La Plata, province of Buenos Aires in Argentina, shortening geographical, cultural and social distances, through a common and fraternal work, this project confirms an example of a collective reflection, which is inscribed in the frame work of undertanding different cultures, performing shared activities and team work as well as giving the oportunity of providing an example of colaborative learning.
At the same time is empoewring the uses of the Internet and other experiences as the wikis, blogs, electronic mail and chat, which outline the value of attaining significan outcomne and overcoming the difficulties of getting to know students as well as professors of both Schools.
The 25th of septembre the prices and diplomas will be awarded at the space Fundación Telefónioca (Arenales 1540 Ciudad de Buenos Aires).
The winners will participate at the IV International Congres of EducaRed in Madrid (Spain) on the 29th, 30th and 31st of October, having the oportunity for developping a colaborative project among professors and student of other countries where EducaRed is working (Brazil, Chile, Columbia and Spain).

The presentation of candidacies will have to take place, from the 1st to the 5th of september, both days inclusive, and will be done, via postal mail, to the POBox No. 364 in Cieza (Murcia) and in all the candidatures will be specified the posts of President,Vicepresident, Secretary and Treasurer as well as the two Vocals.
The electoral board will be formed by José Luis Pardos, Honorary President, and the two senior present members of the Association, as listed on the Web site of the Association.
The award of the first *"Solidarity Heart"* has been given to Conrado Navalón Vila, who recived it form the hands of HE. José Antonio Cobacho, Chancellor of the University of Murcia, last thursday the 7th of June, in a session performed at the Siyâsa Murseum, which gathered numeous representatives from the political, the cultural and many different associations of pepole with disabilities.
The President of the Murcian Association of Sports, for persons with an Organic Transplant, (ADENTRA), Mr. José Angel Sánchez said that «We can say that Conrado, gathers everything that we expect from a human beeing, as it is solidarity, generosity, affability, manners and a permanent attitude of free collaboration, towards a target»
In this event have participated, besides the Chancellor of the University of Murcia, the elected Major of Cieza, Mr. Antonio Tamayo, the Vice Chancellor of Cultural Extension of the University of Murcia, Mr. Guillermo Martinez (all in the picture with Conrado) and the Director of the Museum, Mr. Joaquín Salmerón.
«I am extremely happy and very gratefull, to have been awarded by ADENTRA, an Association which has become very combative for the quality of life of personas with organic transplants and persons waiting to be transplanted» Conrado Navalón expressed vividly, among other things, contained in his Speech.
Numerous people attended also this event as well as Regional representatives for Assocations of people with disabilities.
Following the activities of our Foundation, next coming Thursday the 17th, at 18:00 (UTC/GMT 16:00) a video-conferencing will be held from Cieza (Murcia) to the Super Computing Centers of Galicia, Andalucia, Madrid, Catalunya and the Basque Country, to celebrate the "Day of the Internet", from the Education Institute "Los Albares". To eliminate the barriers which stands to the Information Society for linguistic, cultural and social reasons, is one of the challanges of ISOC, besides being one of the principal targets of the "Day of the Internet". José Luis Pardos is our guest speaker in this cycle of Lectures of ISOC.es and an outstanding example of an advanced and old user of the Net. He has, not only overcomed the personal barriers, which can be determined by his age, but he has also greatly performed the use of the Internet, in an efficient manner, also in his professional activities. Now he is the promoter of a Foundation working for a sustainable Education and Culture: "La Hoya de los Álamos" His Lecture, coordinated by Andreu Veà i Baró, representing ISOC.es and can be followed on-line, next Thursday the 17th of May 2007 at 18:00 spanish time (TC/GMT 16:00) at the Internet or at the usual places. It has been settled also a chat (login: anonimo) allowing the participants to question the Lecturer on real time.
The exhibition was presented by the Director of the Siyasa Museum Joaquin Salmerón Juan, in collaboration with the Universtiy of Murcia and the "Los Álamos" Foundation and coordinated by our Vice President Prof. Conrado Navalón. There are exhibited the art works, which have been shown at a digital level in the Univertiy Magazine "Campus Digital". Joaquín Salmerón declared that this first Exhibition will be completed by another one the 18th of May and a final one in July with all the art works from the artits of Cieza.
The Murcia association of sport for Transplanted persons (ADEMTRA) and the "Los Álamos" Foundation have organised a set of activities which will take place in Cieza fron the 4th to the 6th of May.
The encounter have been presented to the Media, by the City Counsellor, Ana Cobarro, the Prsident of ADEMTRA José Angel Sánchez and Antonio Gómez Portillo, Treasurere of "Los Álamos" who reafirmed the total support of our Foundation for this encounter and praising te daily works developed by ADEMTRA for the persons with organic transplants and the programmed activities for the future.
Last Thursday the 26th of April, has taken place a very emotive homage to the poetess, from Cieza, María Pilar López, organized by the Literature Group "La Sierpe y el Ladu" friends of culture and friends of the poetess.
The projection of an audiovisual called "Mª PILAR LÓPEZ 1919-2006" has been the first performance which has been done by the literature group "La Sierpe y el Laud" with images, text and the voice of Pilar López, and some quotations and images from some of her friends. The second part of the performance consisted in a recital of her poems by some friends and persons connected with cutlure, and is here that Domingo Méndez, Secretary of our "Los Álamos" Foundation, recited her poem "I want to forget"
Last Friday the 8th and at the Public Hall "Aurelio Guirao" of Cieza, the Ciezanísimos Award Prizes were delivered for the year 2006, and we have been awarded with a nomination at the Cultural section, for our activities during the present year as an Association Group "La Hoya de los Álamos". Besides that and at the Cultural Promotion, our Vice President Conrado Navalón Vila was also awarded with the same Prize of Ciezanisimo 2006. You can browse our activities at this same section.
The 10th of October 2006 has been held the solemn ceremony of the signature of the Memorandum of understanding among the University of Murcia and the Association "Grupo la Hoya de los Álamos". The above mentioned act was presided by H.E. the Rector of the University, Mr. José Antonio Cobacho who signed with the President of the Association Mr. Miguel Gual, in the presence also of H.E. Mr. José Luis Pardos, Ambassador of Spain, and Honorary president of the Association, Mr. Conrado Navalón, Professor at the Department of Psycology and Methodology of the University of Murcia and promoter of the Frame work Agreement, Mr. Domingo Méndez, Secretary of the Association, Mr. Antonio Gómez Protillo, Treasurer of the Association and Mr. Antonio Semitiel responsible for Institutional relations of the Association. There have been also present the two Vice Chacellors, Leandro Marín Muñoz and Guillermos Díaz Baños, in charge of Infromation, Communication and Innovation, as well as University Extension, respectively.
José Luís Pardos, will be closing the Cycle "Spain at the international Society" organized by the University of Murcia, CajaMurcia and the Center for Studies Garrigues, with a Lecture about «The Communication Society and its impact in Spain» which will be held on Friday November the 10th at the Cultural Center "Las Claras" of Murcia.
Continuing with the acts of celebration of our first anniversary, at 19:00 the 1 of October, a concert in charge of the Iturriaga Quartet will be offered, that will take place in our siege. The concert, will be preceded by a colloquy on art, coordinated by the painter Pepe Lucas.
The previous Colloque to the Concert of the Iturriaga Quartet will be composed by the experts and musical erudits, Mr. Erique Gonzalez Semitiel, Mr. Antonio Narejos, and Mr. Miguel Angel Centenero, who will comment on the Iturriaga Concert and mainly on their performing works from J.C. Arriaga, Joaquín Turina and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.
Next coming Friday the 20th of September we will celebrate the First Anniversary of our "Los Álamos" Association at our Siège at the "La Hoya
de los Álamos" property, near de Rio Segura and the Teodoro WaterMill, in Cieza (Murcia).

The summer course "Search and imagination in the work of a developing painter" given by the Master José Lucas, organized by the International University of the Sea of Murcia, from the 17th to the 21st of July, in collaboration and held at the Siège of "Los Álamos Foundation", was an enormeous success, and here there are some documents and chronicles that we publish in our web, signed by the Philosopher Milagros España Bernal and by our Honorary President, José Luis Pardos.

The 17th of March of this year 2006, our President of Honour, Mr. José Luis Pardos, was awarded the Great Order for Civil Merit, at a ceremony held at the Chambre of Ambassadors of the Palace of Santa Cruz, the headquarters of the Foreign Office, attended by numerous personalities, colleagues of the diplomatic carreer, familly, friends and collaborators of the Ambassador. Summer Concerts, also at the siège of the Foundation, and performed by the Saravasti Quartet. The Course of the University of the Sea, on modern Painting, by the Master from Cieza, José Lucas.
The members of the Association "Grupo La Hoya de Los Alamos" are people from all walks of life, who are worried and concerned about the global issues which affect the world in general and especially the Region of Murcia, the Ricote Valley and the village of Cieza. We share with other regions of the world the problems of desertification, climatic change, integration of migrants, drug addiction, the situation of the aged and/or people with disabilities, gender violence and other global issues. We believe these issues can be better approached through the appropriate application of information and communication technologies. If you are also concerned with these issues -which are stated in more detail in our Aims- and you have a desire to collaborate with us, you are welcome to Become a Member at no cost to you.
From our headquarters, represented by this logo created specially for the Association by the painter, Pedro Cano, we communicate using the internet, e-mails and our Forums. We also sponsor and run workshops, cultural events, formative training groups, and enter into agreements for collaboration with other institutions, etc.
